Dating seems to be a big problem for teens . For some, the hard part might be trying to get a date. For some that have a significant other, it might be money.
It’s money that seems to be the biggest problem when it comes to dating. Some teens do not have jobs, some may not get allowances, some probably just spend money the second they get it, and of course there are always those who just do not want to spend money at all.
A good date may cost as little as 10 dollars all together, including an activity and food. Some dates may even cost no money at all. Here are a few ideas on how to hold on to your significant other, by treating them to a date with little or no cost.
We all live in North Augusta, which probably means we have all heard of the Greeneway. A great idea for a date would be to go for a walk (or even a run) with your boyfriend or girlfriend. You could even ride bikes on the Greeneway. If you are looking for an especially scenic spot try by Hammond’s Ferry where the river runs. The enjoyment of the Greeneway or the Savannah River, and time spent with someone special, is free. In addition to the Greeneway, there are many nature trails around Lake Thurmond, where you and your date can enjoy the great outdoors.
“A good place for a date would be a walk at the brick pond park in Downtown North Augusta,” says Tamara Riley, “It would be cool if me and my boyfriend are eating Chinese food too.”
If you have a little cash on your hands, you could go to the Master’s Cinemas in Augusta and enjoy a movie for just $2 each. Other inexpensive activities around town include ice skating at the Augusta Ice Sports Center for just $7 plus a $3 rental fee for skates, and bowling at any of the area bowling alleys. Bowling usually costs about $15 per game.
Andrew Smith, a junior, thinks the perfect (cheap) date would be a picnic on the river, with a home cooked meal and then hit the river walk.
Page Barnes, thinks a nice cheap date would be “fishing at the lake. It would be really fun and romantic.”
When it comes to eating out, you will be able to find bargains at many of North Augusta’s fast food restaurants. For example, Wendy’s, Burger King, McDonald’s, and Arby’s all have multiple items on their “Value” menus for just a buck.
Dating doesn’t have to cost a fortune. You can try some of these ideas or just hang out at home, watch some TV, or play with the Wii.

Unfortunately, the Master’s 7 no longer costs a dollar per ticket, but is now $1.99.
May they feel the sting of a thousand daggers, the agony of the venom from a thousand snakes, the white-hot wrath from a thousand suns, and the harsh curses of a thousand low-income teenagers for this injustice.
