Is This the Year for Drew Brees &Co.?

This just might be the year of a fan base that has been Super Bowl starved.

After one of the greatest shootouts in the history of the NFC Championship game, the Saints have proven that they have become one of the elite teams in the NFL. Winning the Super Bowl would start the new decade’s dynasty if the Saints are able to hold off or shutdown Peyton Manning late in the fourth quarter. If Brees and the Saints win the Super Bowl, no doubt that Brees will be the mum of Hall of Fame chat.

Former Miami Dolphins QB Dan Marino told the AP that, “In a way, it sort of validates you,” said one of the greatest pure passers of all time, but a player who appeared in only one Super Bowl and won none. “All of the individual stuff is great … but it’s still a team game. And the best [representation] of teamwork is a ring.”

“He’s certainly a Hall of Fame human being,” said former Saints quarterback Bobby Hebert, who hosts a popular New Orleans sports-talk radio show. “And over the course of the last four years, very few people have done what he’s done [on the field].”

Brees has thrown for over 30,000 yards for his career and over 200 TDs in his nine years in the league. Aside from that, it would be a Mardi Gras in New Orleans and tons of banners that don the phrase, “Who Dat”. It would give the city a well-deserved celebration because this is the first time that the Saints have been to the Super Bowl.
