Looking for a place to stay for the next four to five years? Maybe in Columbia, Charleston, Rock Hill, or right here in the Augusta area? By the time you are a junior in high school, it’s time to start thinking about where you are headed for college. Getting into college is a very stressful subject, and it all depends on what kind of student you were in high school. Here’s a list of some of the requirements for undergraduate admissions to your favorite college.

“U-S-C GO COCKS!” is probably what most want to hear at college. The University of South Carolina is located in the heart of South Carolina, Columbia. SAT scores must be at least 1090 or ACT scores must be a 23 or higher. Class rank is important, too. (the higher the better!). Your final GPA must be a 3.37 on a 4.0 scale. So how much money are we talking to go to the city of garnet and black? Full time tuition for South Carolina residents is $4,378. Housing rates for a full academic year run anywhere from $3,860 to $6,390, depending on where you live.

Some of you might bleed orange, which is okay for Clemson University. Clemson is settled in the small town of Clemson, SC. The main points for being accepted are your class standing, GPA, and SAT/ACT scores. SAT scores must be at a minimum of 1200 and ACT scores must reach a 23 or higher. Instate tuition and fees are about $19,174 per academic year. This includes tuition fees and housing. Choice of major is very important too. Clemson prefers a diversity of the student body. Although extra curricular activities are not considered, you academic standing is all important to Clemson officials.

Want to live in the low country? College of Charleston is the place to be. Academic preparations are very important to be accepted. A student’s GPA must be at least an A/B on an un-weighted scale. SAT scores must range from 1100 to 1240, ACT scores must be between 22 and 26. In addition, you must be in the top 15 percent of your class. Tuition and fees add up to be around $19,569 per academic school year (this includes tuition, fees, housing, books and supplies, and meal plans.) College of Charleston also looks for any extracurricular activities in which you have participated and/or any achievements you have made in your high school career.

Have you always wanted to be an eagle? At Winthrop University, you are definitely invited. Winthrop University is located in upstate South Carolina in Rock Hill. Academic achievements in high school are important to being accepted into Winthrop. SAT scores must reach 1140, and ACT scores must be 24 or higher. Winthrop also looks for extracurricular activities as well as achievements. You’re probably asking how much it costs to go to Winthrop. Tuition, housing and fees are $14,130 per academic school year.

If you are looking to stay around North Augusta, then Augusta State or USCA is probably best for you. Augusta State is in Georgia, but students from Aiken County are not charged out-of-state tuition due to arrangement between the two schools. USCA is considered to be a top notch school in the South. Undergraduate admission requirements are similar to other requirements listed. However, a student could save money by living at home.
