It’s that time again! The freshman and junior classes had their class elections this past Tuesday and everybody was pumped to see the results.

In the past, it seemed that people only voted for their best friend, or made the elections into a popularity contest; this year was not like that. People voted for the person who best fits the ideal president, vice president, secretary, and treasurer.

For the freshman class Allison Owings was elected president, Alex Ward was elected vice president, Sheena Amin secretary, and Paul Liner was tapped as the treasurer.

Nicole Fuller, a freshman, had a lot to say about the elections. She was a definite Allison Owings fan by saying that “Allison had a really good speech, that in my opinion was the most effective.” She also believed that Allison “won the crowd over.”

Luke Smith, another freshman, was a fan of Alex Ward for President, stating that Alex’s speech was “very motivational and the epitome of excellence.” Many in the freshmen class seems to be very pleased with the results from Tuesday.

The junior class, on the other hand, had a very tough competition for the offices of vice president and president. Logan Smith went head to head with Riddhi Patel for President, Riddhi came out on top by winning and is the new junior class President.

Madelyn Wasden went up against Laura Lewis for Vice President. Even though Madelyn has not been at North Augusta High School for very long, she still defeated Laura. Madelyn is excited about getting to know everybody in the junior class this year and says that she “will do the best that she can to represent our junior class in a positive way.”

Alyssa Balbag was voted Secretary and Sydney Scaggs won the vote for Treasurer as well.

If you wonder how to get onto Junior Advisory and run for office, remember that it all comes down to sales. These junior class candidates sold fifteeen or more magazines for Junior Advisory; that shows how hard working each person is.

CA$H Corridor - What do YOU know?

Students, watch out! For the first time ever, the TYJ staff is starting a live game show at North Augusta High School. The new game show, named Cash Corridor, allows students to answer various questions and win cool prizes!

Unassuming students walking the halls during break will be stopped by the hosts of Cash Corridor, only to be shocked when they discover that they are instant contestants! The hosts of the show, Frederick Grimm and Logan Smith, will roam the halls during the six minute breaks to search for potential contestants. A new, random person will be selected for each episode.

To play the game, the contestant must first give permission for the episode to be taped so it can be displayed on the TYJ website. After this, the game begins. Contestants will be given a series of six questions pertaining to both academic and non-academic topics. Upon successfully answering the first question, the contestant will then move on the next level. Each successive level of questioning gets harder and more intense. However, for each question you answer correctly, you automatically win great prizes! For correctly answering the first question, you win a coupon for a bag of Otis Spunkmeyer cookies. The second question will get you an Arby’s sandwich coupon, the third question gives $2.50 NJROTC canteen credit, the fourth question gives a Chick-fil-A sandwich coupon, and the fifth question gives canteen credit plus your choice of a Chick-fil-A sandwhich coupon or a Buck’s Pizza coupon.

Be warned- the last question will be the hardest; however, this question is the most rewarding! If you choose to answer this one, you will wager your previous earnings. If you miss it, you will lose everything. If you answer the question right, you will get to keep one prize from each level!

Be looking out for the Cash Corridor Crew! You could potentially be a contestant during any break during school. Excitement is guarenteed with Cash Corridor. Not only are you racing to get to class, but you are racing to finish the questions, too! As an extra bonus, there are added twists like “Shout-Outs” and “Intersection Challenges” that will surely shake the game up.

For your chance to win free prizes for knowing random facts, get ready for Cash Corridor!!! Cash Corridor will begin after the end of the first nine weeks.
