What Does it Take to Get a Job?

Jobs are one of the ways that we teenagers can afford to get what we want because our parents sure aren’t willing to pay for it. Having a job as a teenager can be very stressful because there is a lot involved in obtaining a job and maintaining it.
In order to start looking for a job you must first be willing to give up a few weekends and football Friday nights. You would also want to look for an employer that is willing to work with your hours. Many teenagers look to fast food as their first job which is a good start because lets face it, it’s not that hard. You must also be prepared to get home late on a school night which if your working a few nights in a row can be tough.
Minimum wage just went up to $7.25 which really isn’t that bad if you think about it. The average teenager works anywhere from 10-30 hrs a week. If you worked 20 hours a week in two weeks you would make $290 every two weeks which is awesome for not having a house payment.
Also you must dress professionally for the job interview no matter what job it is. You need to send a good message to the employer of what kind of person you are. Your boss’s opinion is the only one that matters so make sure you don’t get an attitude with him or even correct him if he is wrong, if there is the smallest reason to fire you then they will because there is plenty of teens ready to take your spot.
Having a job is very tiresome and a big commitment. Taylor Stacy says “Having a job is great but only if you can prioritize them and not get stressed.” If you want a job as a high schooler you must be ready to commit to it and give it your all but still be able to stay focused in school
