As of this past Thursday, Pujols is officially a Los Angeles Angel.  The contract was comprised of three agreements: a playing contract, a marketing deal, and a personal-services agreement. The playing contract states that he is to receive over $240 million during the next ten years along with several perks that include a hotel suite on every away game, luxury suite at the home ballpark that is to be reserved ten games out of the season for the Pujols Family Foundation (an organization seeking to help Domincans in poverty and those affected by Down Syndrome), and a right to a luxury suite between first and third base on any home game.

The marketing agreement is the extra compensation for the milestones that Pujols is expected to reach. When he hits his 763rd home run to take the home run record, he will receive seven million dollars; after his three thousandth hit, he will receive three million dollars; on top of that, there is a grand total of $875,000 in possible award bonuses every year that Pujols can earn for being awarded either the Most Valuable Player in any significant game series, Gold Glove, Silver Slugger, or becoming an All-Star.

His salary will begin at $12 million this year, rise to $16 million next year, to $23 million the year after that, and then rise $1 million every year until 2021 where he will be making $30 million at the age of 41. This is the third contract in baseball history to reach $200 million, behind Alex Rodriguez in both of his deals with the Texas Rangers and the Yankees. Now, Pujols has the third highest salary in baseball behind Alex Rodriguez and Ryan Howard.
