Jackets Keep with Tradition Trounce Mustangs

The ending result to Friday night’s game against Midland Valley was no surprise. In fact, the only surprise about Friday night was that Midland Valley didn’t need any of its team members driven away in ambulances. The word SMACKDOWN has two syllables, and well, NA made use of both.
From the start, QB Loranzo Hammonds engineered a successful offensive machine into action. Besides the four rushing touchdowns Hammonds had, he also showed a brilliant display of arm strength and accuracy throughout the game. His most notable pass found itself in the hands of Jessie Pernell before halftime. This 42-yard touchdown reception not only spelled out doom for the Mustangs, but was also recently discovered as being quick and exact enough to tear a hole in the space-time continuum.
Ironically, Hammonds didn’t even think he was at his best on Friday night. “I don’t think I played that sharp, but I was still on my game,” the quarterback extraordinaire told The Augusta Chronicle. This leaves us wondering what kind of sick nightmare would follow for opposing teams if the QB was at his best. The horror….the horror.
Defensively, the Jackets didn’t show any slacking either. D-End Conner Atkins who finished the night with a sack and 6 tackles, said he thinks “the defense answered the question about how they were going to play this year.” The Yellow Jacket defense allowed the Mustangs to two touchdowns in the first half, but turned the tables by allowing less than 5 rushing yards in the second half.
By the end of the night, as the crowd calmed down (with the exception of a few extremely good looking painted fans in the student section) and the brand new scoreboard complete with end zone play-clocks froze with zero seconds left, the score shined bright…38-14. Another year, another victory.
