Rain Clouds Over Richmond

It was about 5 PM and the start of the game was at least two hours away. Unfortunately, the rain had been coming on strong and now the entire Richmond Academy football field was covered in massive puddles. This rainfall had no effect on the fire that angrily burned down any hope at all for an ARC victory, however.

According to some fans who would wish to remain anonymous, “ARC’s offense was getting nowhere. It began to look like they were splashing around in a pool, falling down on the soaked ground and sending tsunami’s into the air.” Was it the rain or North Augusta’s defense? We can only assume, although the Jacket defensive squad only allowed two plays exceeding 20 yards. North Augusta’s defense also seemed to be more athletic and faster than ARC’s offense.

On the offensive side of NA’s game, the duration of the competition was filled with the usual Matt Hazel one-handers. With Demarcus Rouse’s injury providing a significant damper on North Augusta’s yardage statistics, it was time for some one to fill his shoes (or cleats). Vinny Miller did just that, with over 82 yards and a ground assault resulting in a touchdown.

The combination of unbeatable offense and crushing defense led to another Yellow Jacket victory, with a final score of 30-6. This leaves the Jackets with a record of 4-0, each game won by more than twenty points. P

Next week, the Jackets begin the region schedule against Dutch Fork at home; ARC receives a much needed break. Be it weather or hard work, Friday night’s game proved that rain or shine, day or night, the Yellow Jackets gain victory by impeccable defensive tactics and by never giving up.
