The senior meet on September 16 started out with the fight song and the loud cheers of all the swimmers in the huddle. This meet was the last home meet for all swimmers this season, and the last one ever for the seniors. Because of this, the meet was dedicated towards all of them. North Augusta High School also honored the opposing teams’ (White Knoll, and Richland Northeast) seniors for senior night.

Hannah Collins, Shelby Fuller (we like to call her She-lbs; we are going to trademark it one day), Lindsay Ford, Fredrick Grimm, and I are the only originals left form the very first swim team that started when we were all in seventh grade. Therefore, this meet was extremely special to us. When I asked Lindsay why it was so special she stated, “It’s my night, I even got my own poster, and the coaches made us food!”

Another well-known senior, Fredrick Grimm, was thrilled it was senior swim night because, “That’s what it is all about; ask anybody on this team, they know I am a SENIOR! I celebrate that every day.”

As for the outcome of the races, NA had a very good night. In event one the 200 medley relay (which consists of 4 girls/guys swimming four different strokes in this order: backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly, and free style) I swam the breast and our relay finished third against the opponents. In event two, the boys 200 medley relay, Fredrick Grimm, also swimming breaststroke for his relay, placed third.

In event five, the girls 200IM (all 4 strokes swam twice in a row butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke and freestyle),senior Hannah Collins placed first in her first individual of the night.

Shelby Fuller blasted through the water at a very fast pace swimming in event 9, a 100 (4 laps) butterfly. Shelby came in first, and then got right back up on the block to swim in event11, the 100 freestyle. She placed first in this event also.

In event 15, the girls 200 freestyle relay, Shelby Fuller and Hannah Collins placed first, and Caitlin Conley and Lindsay Ford placed second.

In event 19, girls 100 breast stroke, Hannah Collins went into beast mode coming in first place.

In the girls 400 freestyle relay (which consists of 4 girls swimming a 100 for their relay), Shelby Fuller and Hannah Collins come in first, along with Lindsay Ford who came in second in her relay.

In the very last event of the very last home meet any of these seniors will ever get to swim, Fredrick Grimm had the honor of swimming. In the 400 freestyle relay, Fredrick and his teammates placed third.
