If you’ve been by Wal-mart lately, you may have noticed that Blockbuster is missing from the adjacent shopping center.

The old Blockbuster has been replaced by the new Gamestop. Gamestop has been in Augusta, GA for years, hiding next to a subway and the giant Regal 20 Cinemas. The small, closet-esk video game store recently moved across the river; the grand openning was November 18.

Now a much bigger store, the new Gamestop on Knox Ave. still offers the same huge array of video games, game consoles, and the latest accessories. They also allow customers to trade old video games for new, and buy used video games.

An avid gamer, senior Nicole Felak loves the new Gamestop, “I love this Gamestop because I don’t have to travel forever to get a game and it’s HUGE, so much better than the closet Gamestop in Augusta.”

Gamestop offers the new Call of Duty: Black Ops on pre-order and prides itself on the best deals in town, not only for COD, but all other games. They have every game imaginable and if you’re new at gaming, they can help you find one that’s perfect for you.

Senior Brandon Clark works at the new Gamestop ans says, “I really love working at Gamestop because I can use my video game knowledge to help people, and everyone I work with is so nice.”

Gamestop moved from it’s location in Augusta because there was space availiable due to the closure of Blockbuster, and the fact that North Augusta has a collosal gaming network. There are masses of gamers in North Augusta, and now that Gamestop is here, it will be so much easier to get the games they want. Brandon thinks that’s the biggest reason, “It’s way more convenient because traveling to Augusta is annoying and with the new store, more people will buy games from Gamestop, instead of Wal-mart or Play N’ Trade.”

Junior Anthony Ciccia has already been to Gamestop. “I can spend more money on video games now because I don’t waste the money on gas driving to Augusta, I love the new store.”

This past weekend I had my own experience with the new Gamestop.  I was impressed by the service i received. As soon as I came in, I was greeted with by a very helpful employee. I don’t know much about gaming, so he helped me pick out the perfect game.

So, if you’re looking for a new video game or just want to check it out, the new Gamestop is just around the corner.
