Hall of Fame Wrap Up 2010

“Hall of Fame inductees must have commitment, characters, and leadership.”
Principal, Kyle Smith defined what all of the North Augusta Hall of Fame inductees have at the end of the program. The Hall of Fame has been a tradition at the high school for many years and it is known as the most prestigious award to receive while in North Augusta High School. The Hall of Fame inductees are initially nominated by their peers and the senior class usually nominates thirty to fourty students. From there, the the faculty narrows the list to the actual 10 students who make the Hall of Fame. This year, thirty-four impressive candidates were nominated by the student body, and from that list teachers chose the 10 finalists.
Beginning the Hall of Fame naming program, Mrs. Davis opened with a well-presented speech that included what qualities the ten winning candidates should have. She talked about what well-rounded, intelligent, and community service oriented students that each one of the candidates are. The first winner announced was Aubrey Anna Lamar.
Aubrey Anna Lamar
Aubrey’s highlights included Freshman, Sophomore, and Junior Advirsorys, Co-Captain of the Varsity softball team, and All-State and All-Region softball. She will attend the University of Kentucky in the fall on a softball scholarship. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Lamar
Frederick Martin Grimm
Frederick Grimm is the President of FBLA, President of the Senior Class, and Captain of the Swim Team. He was a representative to Palmetto Boys State and is a member of NHS, Beta Club, and FCA. He plans to attend a four-year college and major in Electrical Engineering and Business Administration. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Grimm Sr.
Emily Claire White
Emily is the Secretary of the Senior Class and is a representative to Palmetto Girls State. She is also the photography editor for Sandspurs. She participates in many volunteer services and is a member of many clubs such as NHS, Kool Club and Beta Club. She will attend College of Charleston and major in Communication. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Roger White.
Nicholas Phillip Gamble
Nicholas is a member of the Yellow Jacket newspaper and is a member of the NJROTC Drill Team. He was a representative to Palmetto Boys State and he participates in many volunteer services such as Toys-4-Tots. He will attend USC Columbia in the fall and major in business and minor in Japanese. He is the son of Mrs. Phylis Gamble and Mr. Eddie Lee Gamble Jr.
Jennifer Leslie Price
Jennifer is the President of Beta Club and National Honors Society and is Vice-President of FBLA. She is active in Sandspurs as an editor. She is a member of almost every club our school offers including Kool Club and Mu Alpha Theta. She represented Palmetto Girls State. She is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Michael Price.
Jessica Victoria Kaczmarek
Jessica is our 2010 North Augusta High School Valedictorian. She is an active member in FBLA, Beta Club and the Literary club. She is very intertwined in The Painted Quill, our literary magazine. She has not decided on which university to attend, but will major in Business Administration.
Omeka John Okafor
Omeka is our Student Body President and is a member of FBLA, FCA, and The Environmental Club. She is in Sandspurs and represented NAHS at Palmetto Boys State. He has lettered in Varsity football and soccer. He has numerous volunteer hours with Community Ministries and University Hospital. He is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Kenneth Okafor.
Stacy Bellinda Scaggs
Stacy is a standout athlete in Varsity soccer and is 3-time Defensive MVP. She made the All-Area Team and has lead her class in Powderpuff four years running. She is envoled in FCA, Kool Club and Sandspurs. She will attend Clemson in the fall and major in Biology. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kevin Scaggs.
Kay Elizabeth Meyer
Kay is a representative for Palmetto Girls State and is an active member of Sandspurs, NHS, and Beta Club. She is a leader in FCA and FBLA and enjoys varsity girls basketball. She will attend Clemson in the fall and major in Nursing. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Rick Meyer.
Kayla Lee Davis
Kayla is the President of FCA, a leader in Sandspurs, and a representative to Palmetto Girls State. She has participated and led the JV and Varsity Cheerleading. She has volunteered with the Special Olympics and other various organizations. She is active in True North Church. She plans to attend North Greenville University in the fall and major in Communications.
After the ceremony, we were able to get candid interviews with some of the winners. Aubrey Lamar said that being in Hall of Fame, “is a real honor and I have been blessed to have many teachers to help me the past 4 years.”
Jennifer Price was excited, “I’ve always wanted it because my older sister got it. It’s a real honor and it’s exciting. There’s more to life than Hall of Fame, but it’s really nice to be in it.”
And as a parent, Steve Davis said, “It’s a tremendous honor for her and we are very proud of her. I think it’s a reward that reflects the qualities that we would hope to find in our daughter.”
