“The Best Snake is a Dead Snake”: life according to Mr. Gregory

If you are an observant student you have noticed a particularly tall man walking around the school. This man is our new assistant principle, Mr. Charles Gregory and he has noticed some things about NAHS: “The students are better behaved, more mature, and more concerned about academics.”
It’s no secret that a lot has changed around North Augusta High School: new tardy principles, new hallway principles, and finally just new principals. When Mr. Bradley left North Augusta he was replaced by Mr. Gregory. But while most know about the switch, few actually know about Mr. Gregory.
Mr. Gregory is not a new-comer to administration. Before coming to North Augusta High School, he was the assistant principal at Orangeburg Wilkinson High School. Mr. Gregory has been in an administration position for four years. Before this, Mr. Gregory says that he was a “social studies teacher, I taught about every social studies subject.”
When asked about how he was going to handle discipline problems, he said that he “likes to follow up. I want you to come to my office after you get in trouble and know that I still want to talk to you; I try to follow up the next week with everyone who gets in trouble to see how they are doing.”
A piece of advice from Mr. Gregory? “Know what you want to do with your life when you graduate, or at least have an idea. The world is so competitive now, and if you know what you want to do you will have a leg up on everyone else.”
As for Mr. Gregory as a person he says “the most interesting thing about me is my five year old daughter, she is going to kindergarten this year.” The weirdest thing he has seen while being here? “Probably Mr. Gill’s snakes; the best snake is a dead snake in my opinion.”
And finally, he gave the answer to the one question that all of us are left wondering…”I’m 6’5”.”
